ATP Beijing 2026: Qualifying Complete, Four Players Secure Main Draw Spots

The qualifying rounds for the ATP tournament in Beijing have concluded, and four players have secured their spots in the main draw following some highly competitive matches.

Top qualifying seed Botic van de Zandschulp had to work hard in the first round against Valentin Royer, overcoming him 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. In the final round, he was much more comfortable, defeating local wildcard Jie Cui 6-4, 6-4. Cui had previously pulled off an upset by convincingly eliminating Daniel Altmaier 6-4, 6-1.

French player Arthur Gea displayed excellent form to reach the main tournament. After smoothly dispatching Rigele Te 6-2, 6-3 at the start, he outplayed Tomas Machac 6-3, 6-4 in the decisive match. Machac had earlier survived an incredible marathon match against second seed Yannick Hanfmann, winning in three grueling sets 7-6(7), 6-7(6), 6-4.

Spanish veteran Pablo Carreno Busta also successfully completed his task and advanced. He first defeated Yi Zhou 7-5, 6-3, and then routinely beat Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-4 in the qualification final. Mannarino had previously managed to eliminate Miomir Kecmanovic in a very tight contest 7-6(6), 3-6, 7-6(5).

The final ticket to the main event was claimed by Slovakian Alex Molcan, whose path was filled with drama. Right from the start, he had to play three tie-breaks to break down Vit Kopriva 7-6(3), 2-6, 7-6(8). In the qualifying final, Molcan got the better of Marco Trungelliti 6-4, 7-5. Trungelliti had eliminated Martin Landaluce in the previous round in another thriller that ended 6-1, 6-7(9), 7-6(2).
