The Russian tennis player and tournament’s top seed, Daniil Medvedev, won the title at the ATP tournament in Almaty by defeating Nikoloz Basilashvili in the final with a 2-1 set victory (6:7, 6:1, 6:3). The final match lasted 1 hour and 53 minutes, and Medvedev secured the trophy after a great comeback on Center Court.
Tie-break Goes to the Georgian, the Rest of the Match Belongs to Medvedev

The first set brought a great battle and balanced play with no dropped serves on either side. The decision came down to a dramatic tie-break, which the Georgian player won 8:6 after 53 minutes of play.
The loss of the first set only motivated Medvedev, who completely shifted into a higher gear in the second set. In just 24 minutes of play, the top seed secured two breaks and won the second set with a convincing 6:1. Medvedev continued his dominance in the decisive third set, closing out the match in 36 minutes with additional breaks for a final 6:3 scoreline.
Devastating Serve and Baseline Control

The key to the Russian player’s victory was an extremely dominant initial shot. Medvedev fired an impressive 22 aces compared to Basilashvili’s three, winning a high 82% of points on his first serve (55 of 67). The Russian was significantly more stable from the baseline, recording 26 winners and 20 unforced errors, while the Georgian hit 17 winners and made 40 unforced errors.
Medvedev did not allow his opponent a single break throughout the entire match, successfully saving both break points he faced (2/2). On the other hand, he constantly pressured Basilashvili’s serve and converted 4 of his 10 break opportunities, ultimately winning 96 points compared to his opponent’s 77.
