The clay season is here, and Bucharest is ready — even if the draw looks very different from what was originally expected. The Țiriac Open presented by UniCredit Bank — Romania’s only ATP Tour event — opens its doors on March 30 at the Simona Halep National Tennis Center, with qualifying beginning March 28.

Now in its 24th edition, the tournament runs through April 5, with the singles final scheduled at 14:00 local time. Total prize money stands at €612,620.

In the days leading up to the tournament, a wave of late withdrawals reshaped the field entirely. Defending champion Flavio Cobolli, along with Arthur Rinderknech, Márton Fucsovics, Miomir Kecmanović and Francisco Comesaña, all pulled out — a trend typical of this transitional week between the hard-court and clay seasons, with many players choosing to rest ahead of Monte-Carlo. Cobolli is replaced in the draw by Pedro Martínez.

The Draw: Wide Open

With no defending champion and several top names absent, the Țiriac Open 2026 is as open as it gets at ATP 250 level. Gabriel Diallo (CAN, No. 1 seed) leads the field — the powerful Canadian has shown consistent improvement and enters Bucharest as the player to beat on clay this week.

The confirmed field includes:

  • Gabriel Diallo (CAN) — top seed, powerful baseline game, dangerous on clay
  • Adrian Mannarino (FRA) — No. 2 seed, wily veteran, hard to break down
  • Fabián Marozsán (HUN) — No. 3 seed, clay specialist, a threat every week on this surface
  • Nuno Borges (POR) — No. 4 seed, consistent and experienced
  • Sebastian Báez (ARG) — No. 5 seed, finalist here in 2025, arrives with a point to prove
  • Daniel Altmaier (GER) — No. 6 seed, reliable clay-court performer
  • Mariano Navone (ARG) — No. 7 seed, heavy topspin, thrives in long rallies
  • Botic van de Zandschulp (NED) — No. 8 seed, dangerous on slow courts
  • Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP), Pedro Martínez (ESP), Damir Džumhur (BIH), Dino Prižmić (CRO)

Ones to Watch

Báez is the standout name — the Argentine was runner-up here in 2025 and has already reached a final in 2026. On slow clay, his heavy topspin and relentless baseline game make him the favorite. Navone is similarly dangerous and could go deep. Diallo as top seed faces pressure but has the weapons to handle it. Dark horse of the week? Bautista Agut — the Spaniard thrives on clay and is never to be underestimated regardless of seeding.
