After two steady opening games, Halys was the first to apply pressure, earning two break points early in the set, but failing to convert. Griekspoor responded in kind later, creating his own opportunity in the seventh game, yet the set remained on serve.
The decisive moment arrived at 5–5. In the eleventh game, Griekspoor stepped up in front of his home fans, breaking Halys’ serve before confidently serving out the set to take it 7–5.
Second Set: Marathon Tie-Break Seals the Match
Griekspoor nearly made the perfect start to the second set, earning a break point in the opening game, but Halys escaped. From there, both players served exceptionally well, denying each other any further break opportunities.
