Marcos Giron advanced past Sho Shimabukuro 6-3, 7-5, saving all nine break points he faced, according to ATP.
Tuesday (Feb 17): seeds survive, tie-breaks everywhere
Sebastian Korda moved through with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Mackenzie McDonald.
Frances Tiafoe beat Rinky Hijikata 6-4, 6-4.
Miomir Kecmanovic opened with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mattia Bellucci.
Brandon Nakashima outlasted Marin Cilic 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, while Adam Walton beat Gabriel Diallo 7-6, 6-3.
Zachary Svajda advanced by beating Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 7-6(3).
Wednesday (Feb 18): Round of 16 begins
In the Round of 16, Coleman Wong beat Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 7-6(4), and Flavio Cobolli defeated Terence Atmane 7-5, 6-4.
Those results have helped shape a busy Thursday, with several quarter-final spots up for grabs.
